Diet on information

Diet on information

Picking our information sources is as important as picking our food. It is a nutrition plan for the brain, and the most important thing is not even picking the correct or incorrect information.

The most important thing is to understand what to consume. Here are two key conclusions:

  1. You become who you are to be, and you have a desire for becoming the person who you are to be. Follow this desire, because constant exposure to a significant style of content is future self guiding you.
  2. Do not consume content to motivate yourself. No one who sits in front of a screen watching Nadal and Federer all day will become a great tennis player. No one who watches Steve Jobs to be inspired will create a new tech company. No one who watches cooking videos will be a great cook.

Those things come from your inside. Whatever things come inside of you, consume content on that, not to be inspired but to understand the vision and thinking style of this particular person.

Having mentors is not for imitating them.

Having mentors is also not to learn from them.

Because you will never be able to “be like” someone.

Having mentors is for understanding them.

Understanding with a neutral stance is key for understanding yourself.

Do not believe in value judgements and “good” - “bad” identifications.

Nothing is practically good or bad.

Observe and understand with a neutral mind.

One extra note:

Reading is faster than listening because:

Proper listening is only consuming.

Proper reading is both consuming and producing.
