Be careful about advices

Be careful about advices

All the advice you are willing to take is given by other people based on their own circumstances and life experiences.

A successful writer cannot give you the joy, the pain and the feelings that he had. The best advice you can get from him is “Sit down and write.”

Each advice lacks something within itself. It lacks energy and wisdom. Each advice is a little bit empty.

A successful athlete can explain to you how she achieved what she achieved. She will never be able to give you her determination and inner motivation.

It is good to learn from the best. The rule is, you cannot be better than the best if you listen to them.

Each individual is capable of giving recommendations based on personal experiences. Those experiences are limitations. A professor in the Business Administration Department cannot help you to establish a company if he never did it himself. He can explain theoretically, but the knowledge is only on the surface. He never tasted it. He never put his skin into the game.

Take advice from the people who put their skin into the game.

Take negative advice from the people who speak instead of doing.

If I receive advice from a person who I do not take as an example for myself in the future, I tend to regard the advice as a “negative” one.

For me, the relative benefit of “not trying what he suggested” can be higher than “trying what he suggested”. This is what I call a “negative advice”.

As I always put out:

Seek mentors, but make your own decisions. Make mentors from the ones who have skin in the game. But do not imitate your mentors. You are not one of them. You can be better than them, but you are not them. Be unique with your decisions.

As much as you consume, teach and create.

Someone will seek you.

And then,

People will seek you.
